The two-part series, provisionally titled "Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards," will chronicle the dramatic fall from grace of one of British television's most prominent figures. Edwards, once a trusted face of BBC's News at Ten, became embroiled in a scandal that led to his conviction for serious child sexual offences.

A Career Tarnished by Scandal

Huw Edwards' career, which began in Wales and saw him rise to become one of the BBC's highest-paid presenters, took a dark turn in July 2023. Allegations surfaced that a "top BBC Star" had paid a teenager for sexual images, a claim initially reported by The Sun. Edwards' wife later confirmed his involvement, leading to his resignation in April 2024. By June, following a Metropolitan Police investigation, Edwards was charged with three counts of making indecent images of children. He pleaded guilty a month later, admitting to possessing 41 illegal images, including seven of the most serious type. Consequently, he received a six-month suspended prison sentence and was placed on the sex offenders' register for seven years.
