The incident, which took place on May 29 last year in Dalston, East London, was part of a violent feud between the Hackney Turks and Tottenham Turks, two rival gangs.

On that fateful evening, a gunman on a motorbike opened fire outside the Evin Restaurant on Kingsland High Street, striking three men and the young girl. The girl, who was enjoying ice cream with her family, was hit in the head by the first of six bullets fired. Despite surviving, she now lives with a bullet lodged in her brain, a titanium plate in her skull, and significant physical and cognitive challenges.

During the trial at the Old Bailey, Riley was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and attempting to murder three men affiliated with the Hackney Turks.
