Sarah Ferguson's charity, Sarah's Trust, is set to close "for the foreseeable future" following the release of new documents detailing her connections with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The decision, announced by a spokesperson for the charity, comes after months of internal discussions.

The closure announcement coincides with the release of over three million documents by the US Department of Justice, which include emails showing Ferguson's communication with Epstein during his imprisonment for soliciting sex from a minor. These emails, which revolve around Ferguson's business venture, Mothers Army, suggest a close relationship between the former Duchess of York and Epstein.

Established in 2020, Sarah's Trust aimed to support humanitarian and environmental causes. Despite its achievements, including delivering over 150,000 aid parcels during the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting educational initiatives in Ghana, the charity will cease operations. The spokesperson expressed pride in the trust's work but did not elaborate on the reasons behind its closure.

Ferguson's association with Epstein has previously led to her being dropped as a patron by several charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and the British Heart Foundation. The latest documents reveal Ferguson referring to Epstein as the "brother I have always wished for" and seeking his advice on launching Mothers Army.

The files also include an email exchange where Ferguson appears to congratulate Epstein on the birth of a "baby boy," and another where she accuses him of using their friendship to gain access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. Epstein's influence extended to arranging flights for Ferguson and her daughters to visit him shortly after his release from prison.
