A Brazilian tourist, Juliana Marins, has been found dead after a tragic fall from a cliff on Mount Rinjani, Indonesia's second-tallest volcano. The 26-year-old was hiking with five friends and a guide when she slipped during an early morning trek on Saturday. Despite initial signs of life, Marins succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by her family and Indonesian rescue teams.

Challenging Rescue Efforts

The rescue operation, which spanned four days, was hampered by the steep and slippery terrain of Mount Rinjani, coupled with poor visibility due to fog. Rescuers initially heard Marins' cries for help but were unable to reach her due to the extreme conditions. Drone footage captured her alive on Saturday, but she was later found unresponsive at a depth of 600 meters on Tuesday.

Marins' family, who had been actively updating the public through social media, expressed their gratitude for the support received during the search. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva also extended condolences, stating that diplomatic services would continue to support the family. Concerns were raised by Marins' family regarding the safety of the trail, which remained open after the incident.
